Assistant Marketing

Qualifications to be Hoofer Assistant Marketing Chair  

  • A general knowledge of the Hoofer philosophy and of the individual Hoofer clubs; or more importantly a desire to learn more about the clubs and the Wisconsin Union.

  Hoofer Council Assistant Marketing Chair’s Duties  

  • Attendance at one Council Meeting per month is mandatory for all assistant chairs of Council; due to smaller time commitment, assistant chairs do not receive a vote in council decisions unless appointed by the chair in the event of their absence.
  • Attendance at the Hoofer Council Fall Retreat is mandatory for all members of Council.
  • Attendance at the WUD Fall retreat is encouraged.
  • Work with the appropriate Wisconsin Union Marketing and Promotions Department staff member(s).
  • Update and revise position description and position guide as appropriate.
  • The Assistant Marketing Chair will answer to the needs and collaborate with the Marketing Chair when needed to accomplish the following:
  1. Publicize any all-Hoofer events i.e. Kick-offs, Winter Carnival, free programs
  2. Coordinate an all-Hoofer publicity strategy.
  3. Assist individual clubs regarding publicity as needed or requested.
  4. Encourage local media to cover specific Hoofer events and encourage the media to have Hoofer feature stories.
  5. Plan and organize an all-Hoofer publicity workshop in association with the M&P department.
  6. Work with the Hoofer Technology committee to maintain the Hoofer web site(s).
  7. Coordinate information tables for events such as SOAR, the student organization fair, MU Bash, etc.
  8. Update general Hoofer bulletin boards and portable displays as needed.
  9. Organize marketing for All Hoofer Kick-offs.
  10. Keep promoting and updating Hoofprints (work with Historian on this).

  • Hoofer Council members receive free memberships in all clubs during their term of office after having paid the General Activity fee. 

  Accountability  

  • All Hoofer Council members abide by Wisconsin Union policies and the Hoofer Council Constitution.
  • The Hoofer Council Assistant Marketing Chair is accountable to the Hoofer Advisors regarding position performance and responsibilities.
  • The Hoofer Council Assistant Marketing Chair reports to Hoofer Council Marketing Chair.

  Time Commitment  

  • Meeting times monthly:                1-2 hours
  • Projects / planning monthly          6-8 hours
  • TOTAL TIME PER WEEK           4 HOURS average
