Position Description: Development Chair

Qualifications to be Development Chair
• A general knowledge of the Hoofer philosophy and of the individual Hoofer clubs; or more importantly a desire to learn more about the clubs and the Wisconsin Union

Hoofer Council Development Chair Duties
• Attendance at all Council Meetings is mandatory for all members of Council.
• Attendance at the Hoofer Council Fall Retreat is mandatory for all members of Council.
• Attendance at the WUD Fall retreat is encouraged.
• Work with the appropriate Wisconsin Union staff, UW Foundation, and Memorial Union Building Association member(s) to ensure that all fundraising is done within University and Union guidelines.
• Work closely and have regular communication with the Wisconsin Union Development Director to support development and relationship-building efforts.
• Update and revise position description and position guide as appropriate.
• Present to Memorial Union Building Association request(s) for funding of HoofPrints, the Hoofer alumni newsletter.
• The Fundraising Chair will recruit and chair a Development Committee to accomplish the following:
1. Meet at least once per month
2. Plan and execute at least one fundraising event per year (e.g. Venetian night)
3. Research and write grant proposals for Hoofer Council; assist individual club Fundraising representatives in creating and executing grant proposals.
4. Research and write ASM Grants for Hoofer Council; inform and assist individual club Fundraising representatives in the writing of ASM Grants
5. Pursue Capital and Equipment donations for Hoofer Council (including Hoofer Leader area of upper office).
6. Plan and execute at least one Alumni Event per year.
7. Work directly with the VP-Admin to prepare, publish and distribute both hardcopy (once per year) and online versions (seasonally) of HoofPrints using appropriate co-sponsorships with the WUD Publications Committee.
8. Develop and hold regular committee meetings to facilitate learning and development of Hoofer Council and individual Hoofer clubs.

Accountability
• All Hoofer Council members abide by Wisconsin Union policies and the Hoofer Council Constitution.
• The Hoofer Council Development Chair is accountable to all Hoofer clubs officers and general members.
• The Hoofer Council Development Chair is accountable to the Hoofer Advisors regarding position performance and responsibilities.
• The Hoofer Council Development Chair reports to Hoofer Council and is directly accountable to the Council President.

Time Commitment
• Meeting times weekly: 3-4 hours
• Projects/Planning Monthly: 6-8 hours
TOTAL TIME PER WEEK: 4-5 Hours average
