  • Trial Membership
    • Sarah gave overview of the details of the Trial Membership (from this point on noted as “TM”).
    • Questions
      • Justin: What if you lose your card? Sarah: Tough Luck, its like a gap gift card, if you lost it, you cant really use it…
      • Laura: When does the card expire? Sarah: One year after purchase.
      • Laura: How do you prevent duplication? Sarah: The membership card is signed by hoofer member selling them.
      • Justin: Will club leaders have access to the emails of those who signed up? Sarah: yes (for the most part – might not always be possible)
      • Paul: What about just buying a gift certificate of $40.00 to be spent for the membership during soar so the student can use it. Sarah: That would work, it would be preferable, though, if the gift certificate were noted as saying “For Hoofers TM” under the “purpose” section of the certificate.
      • Andrew: Questioning the assumption of if you try it, you’ll buy it - which is the logic behind the TM idea. Sarah: it worked for me with most of the clubs I joined.
      • Andrew: How can you track if full club memberships increased due to TMs? Sarah: it’s hard.
      • Jen: I’m concerned about the giving away about TMs, who can give them away? Kyle: Only council can approve giving them away.
      • Forrest: Can clubs monitor which memberships were the result of TMs if there was a “how did you hear about us?” section on the membership application page? Sarah: Sure, but it’ll have to be approved by each club.
      • Matt D: Maybe an online survey would be another good way of tracking progress of TMs. Sarah: It is definitely a possible option, although perhaps more difficult than it needs to be
      • Jim: Kudos to Sarah for TM idea, online survey is a good idea.
    • Paul: Motion to enact TM, capping price at $40.00 but allowing Sarah to tweak some details as long as they stay in the spirit of what was mentioned today.
    • Brittney: Second
    • Kyle: Any questions?
      • What if you buy the TM over and over and just use it without committing to any one club. Sarah: Membership forms are easy to change if necessary.
    • Kyle: All in favor? / All opposed?
