CLUB REPORTS



OUTING:

  • Door county trip, it was sweet.
  • Exec meeting tomorrow.
  • Website still down. Is down because hosting service has been hacked. Starting outing blog

RIDING:

  • Team started riding. Tryouts.
  •  Lessons start next week

SCUBA:

  • Filled OW class for fall.

SNS:

  • SnS got a new website!
  • Preliminary planning for homecoming

SAILING:

  • Boat parade. Commended for presence.
  • Boat parade was a huge success

MOUNTAINEERING:

  • Climbing!!!!
  • Starting Clinique is on Thursday
  • Trying to throw a film festival

President’s Report:

  • Please start thinking about what to do if the Union Closes for H1N1 (real possibility)
  • No one with flu like symptoms should be coming into Hoofers, especially the office

All Hoofer Kick Off:

  • All Hoofer Kickoff in on Thursday at 7:00 PM in the Great Hall
  • Possibly pizza for volunteers
  • Volunteers should get there at 6 – mandatory that all of Council shows up

Marketing Update:

  • Drew showed the progress on the Official Hoofer Facebook and Twitter pages
  • Sought input on from Council on what should be conveyed on them
  • Student Org Fair is on Wednesday at the Kohl Center
  • Check in starts at 4:00, officially open from 4:45-8:00
  • Volunteers Needed!

Group Pricing:

  • Presented some ideas for group pricing, including:
    • Try to group together memberships or fees:
    • Group rates – If you bring in yourself and five other people then you get a special rate
    • Multiple club rate – If you want to join 5 of the 6 clubs then you get special rate
  • But individual club heads and their respective executive committees have to decide what discounts (if any) could be allotted to individuals that join said multiple clubs

Outing Club Spotlight:

  • Outing Club Has a large membership and thus does the most outdoor activities including: telemark skiing, sea kayaking, white water kayaking, biking, cross-country skiing and other social activities that are not exclusively outdoor. A couple of big annual trips along with dozens of local trips.
  • $22 per semester $35 for an academic year and $55 for 12 months.

To Do’s:

Mindy:

  • Haunted Halloween is the next large even and emails about it will start going out next week

Andrew:

  • Start Educational Committee and All hoofer Kick Off

Erin:

  • Find out about new group membership opportunities

Billy:

  • Finish planning All Hoofer Kickoff

 

Drew:

  • Prep for Student Org Fair and All Hoofer Kickoff and hold a meeting with other marketing chairs and do some chalking for the All Hoofer Kickoff

Sarah:

  • Go to All Hoofer Kickoff and find someone for the Student Org Fair

Nick:

  • Go to All Hoofer Kickoff an attend the Student Org Fair

Caroline:

  • Outing Club Kickoff on Wednesday and All Hoofer Kickoff

Mary:

  • Shower and send something to Kickoff and clean gear cage and lead some Outing 101 info sessions and some bike trips and replace a bike tire and come up with new pricing strategies

Jen:

  • Respond to Brad’s email about a new treasurer talk to Jeff about setting up different account lines for the Trial Memberships and talk to Erin about stuff about pricing

Paul:

  • Go to All Hoofer Kickoff and attend the Student Org Fair and check on the General Activity fee and follow up with UW legal about the Suspension/Expulsion Policy

 

Courtney:

  • Work with Jim about fundraising stuff and what to do for this year

Brad:

  • Make sure Sailing Club is present at events and finish creating Board of Captains

Matt:

  • Go to All Hoofer Kickoff and attend the Student Org Fair, more rail jam stuff, and marketing and sponsorships…fun stuff like that.
