My name is Melisa Tobakos. I’m a senior studying International Studies and Political Science. I’m very interested in being Secretary for Hoofers Council for a few reasons.  For the last two years I have been gaining valuable experience in a working office setting. I am more than confident that I can complete any duty given to me as Secretary. I have also participated in Model United Nations for the last school year and now have a solid grasp of Parliamentary procedure, which Council also follows. Although I have not been fully involved with Hoofers throughout my time at the UW, I have participated in various events through the club such as Commodore’s Cup, free ski nights at Tyrol, and the Winter Carnival. Despite not being directly involved with any club, they all interest me. I have experience with hiking and camping, rock climbing (in a very limited sense), snowboarding, sailing, and horseback riding. Scuba diving is the one thing I have never tried but would someday love to get into. I also believe that because I have not been attached to any club in the past nor have much history with its inner workings as a whole, I can bring a fresh approach to many of the problems the club is facing today. I want to support the goals of Hoofers in both the short and long term. I am interested in learning more about each club and I feel it will pay off in my role as Secretary if I am elected.
