Claire Schlenker (VP-Finance) Platform

Claire Schlenker : Hoofer VP-Finance

For those of you that don’t know and are wondering “what happened to Claire?” and “why isn’t she ever around Hoofers anymore?” well it’s because I’m abroad! I’m currently studying abroad in Spain, but would like you to vote for me as Hoofer’s VP-Finance! I became involved in Hoofers when I started working at the Outdoor Programs Office (OPO) sophomore year.  I was quickly engulfed into the Hoofer world. In the past two years I have made my best friends through Hoofers and if I’m not in class, the Hoofers Lounge is where you can usually find me. Being that it is such a large part of my life, I would like nothing more than to become more involved and represent Hoofers as VP-Finance.

Platform

I believe my dedication to the club, work history and academic studies have prepared me well for this role:

First off, as I’ve already stated, Hoofers is a very important part of my life and I am dedicated to upholding and strengthening the organization as a whole. I will be dedicated to working with council and each of the Hoofer clubs to make sure they are financially organized not only for a successful year, but also to leave the clubs in solid financial standings for the following years to come. Making sure the budgets are well thought out, properly understood and successfully managed is vital to having a fiscally sound organization.

Secondly, I have a unique insight not only as a Hoofer club member but also from a business perspective, as I have worked in the office for the past two years. I see how the clubs function on a daily basis and have solid understanding of Hoofers as a whole as well as each of the clubs on an individual level. I have worked countless Hoofer events so I also understand the culture of each of the clubs. This is important when we must all collaborate as a team.

Lastly, I am pursuing a double Major in Management and International Business.  The skills I have gained from my management major have taught me to effectively work and manage teams, which is a vital part of working with Hoofers. As a business major I have also taken economics, finance and accounting classes which have all helped prepare me to successfully take on the role of VP-finance.

Closing

As I am not there to speak on my behalf, and I was given a word limit, I hope you can see through this short platform that I am very willing, ready and able to represent you as Hoofer’s VP-finance. Nothing would please me more than to serve on the Hoofer exec board for the 2010-2011 academic year, so vote for me, Claire Schlenker, VP-Finance!

Summary:

  • I am dedicated to working with all the clubs to make sure they are in solid financial standing for the year I serve and the years to follow.
  • I have a solid understanding of all the clubs not only as a Hoofer member but from a business perspective as I have worked in the Outdoor Programs Office for the past 2 years.
  • As a business major, I have gained the necessary financial skills to successfully take on the VP-Finance position.
